Where do we walk?
Our meeting point for the walks is at Red Hill from where we transfer you to a delightful walking track amidst rolling hills, vineyards and magnificent Cedar tree avenues . After a beautiful walk of approximately 3.5km we stop for a morning tea and to sample the wares at the Epicurean centre. Fantastic fresh baked breads, pastries and fresh roasted coffee provide our first taste sensations of the day. Italian wood fire ovens, in both the bakery and ‘cucina’ are used for baking French and Italian artisan style breads and pastries.
The walking then continues through quiet back roads past fruit orchards and native forest with superb views across the Peninsula to Phillip Island. We then stop for a light tapas style lunch at the renowned Green Olive restaurant where we taste the locally grown olives, wine and organic food produced here. The restaurant and farm grows olives, grapes, herbs and vegies, raises sheep and chooks and turn amazing produce from local farmers into a a delicious range.
After a leisurely lunch we continue on a hidden path through the back paddocks and orchards to come out on a delightful back road through stringy bark forest that take us to our last stop for the day, Red Hill Cheese. This hidden gem produces exceptional cheeses and they describe themselves as ‘Artisan cheese makers for serious cheese lovers’ and once we’ve enjoyed a tasting plate here you’ll no doubt agree! The day ends with a wine tasting at Main Ridge estate, one of the original wineries established in 1975. Sample the excellent wines here before we walk the short distance back to our original starting point for the day.
